“All I want anyone to say is that she loved Jesus with her whole heart, mind, soul, and strength ... and that everyone who called or came in was made to feel welcome and drawn to Jesus and Calvary Chapel” -- Valerie Prink, Secretary
How would you describe CCO's "church culture" to others? We are a very loving, hopefully nonjudgmental, come-as-you-are Christ-centered body.
Why is CCO a good fit for you? To me I don't consider the privilege of being on staff here coming to "work.” I do have responsibilities that go along with being the church secretary but there is no other place in the whole world I would rather be than serving my pastors and my family at CCO. I would hope and pray that I would be a friendly and pleasant voice on the phone, and that people through Jesus would be drawn to come and worship at CCO if this is where God would have them come.
What is your goal in your position as secretary? To be a good ambassador for our Lord and rightly represent Him to all people that call or come into the office. My desire is to help and minister to all and also to learn from the pastors and other staff members.
What originally brought you to Calvary Chapel Olympia? My husband and I hadn't been saved very long, maybe a year, and were attending another wonderful church body in the area. We had friends, a couple who were not saved, but worked with Pastor Chuck's wife, Pat, at one of our local hospitals. Our friends didn't want to come alone so my son and I came with them. The second time we came, Pastor Chuck and his wife were greeting people at the door again like they had the week before and he remembered everyone's name - even all our kids. After worshiping and praising the Lord in songs and hymns, Pastor Chuck started simply teaching through the Bible, which is one of Calvary's distinctions from other churches. God spoke to our hearts and I knew that CCO was going to be our Home church from that moment on. That was in 1991. The Lord took my wonderful husband of 27 years, Paul, home to be with Jesus seven years ago. Had I not had my family here at CCO and my Precious Jesus upholding me, I don't think I would have totally survived his sudden departure from this world.
