From a seed to a garden.... What began as a small need blossomed into an entire ministry of service.
Mark 10:45, “For even the Son of Man (Jesus) did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
Sometimes we all just need a helping hand. The rolls could—and do—reverse: one day you may be the one offering help—and the next you may be the one in need of it. Over 200 CCO volunteers have signed up to bless you when you need help with:
- An elderly parent.
- As a senior citizen.
- As a single parent.
- Handyman jobs.
- Disabilities and/or special needs.
- Meals and gas.
- Transportation.
- Appliance repair.
- Plumbing or electrical work.
- Preventative vehicle maintenance.
- Foreign language services.
- Sewing and cleaning.
“In 2006, my husband was very sick with complications regarding his cancer. He had difficulty walking and we needed to have a railing put on our porch steps. Neither of us were able to build the railing. I called the Helps Ministry to see if we could get some assistance. A short time later, a man came out to our home and decided what we would need. Within a few weeks, we had a new railing on our porch. This was a wonderful blessing to us. I can't thank the Helps Ministry enough for helping us in this situation.
"Another time, my garbage disposal stopped working and the sink would not drain. I was a single mom with six kids in my home. I have no knowledge on home repair, especially pluming issues. I again called the Helps Ministry and a plumber soon called me. He asked a few questions and made a trip to to my home. When he arrived, he had a list of disposals and prices, as well as the information on where to purchase them, should I need to. He quickly assessed the disposal and was able to fix it using a tool that he had brought. After fixing the disposal, he explained what to do in the future, if the problem happened again, and left the tool. I was so thankful to have a knowledgeable person available to help me fix my sink.” -- Crissi Robinson
