MISSIONS CARE TEAMS

Think of it as flying a kite; the church is the kite flier, the missionary is the kite, and Missionary Care Teams are the strings that connect them. The string ensures messages from the flier reach the kite, and vice versa.

Qualifications to become part of a Missions Care team:
• A desire to participate in the task of World Evangelization
• Organizational skills.
• The ability to love people.

Team Members Needed:
1. REFRESHER COORDINATOR
“ Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." (Jos 1:9)
Job Description
• Responsible for being the ‘listener’ the ‘shoulder’.
“... but let us encourage one another and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Heb 10:25)
• Responsible for remembering missionaries’ important dates, like birthdays, anniversaries, holidays. (1 Cor 16:20)
• Responsible for staying aware of what’s happening (good and bad) in missionaries’ lives, and keeping missionaries currents on events ‘back home.’ (Eph 5:19)
• Responsible for fulfilling needs. (Eph 4:2)
• Responsible for coordinating homecoming events. (Rom 12:10)
• Responsible for debrief and re-entry plans and goals. (1 Pet 3:8)

2. SUPPORT and HELPS COORDINATOR
“When you come, bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas, and my scrolls, especially the parchments.” (2 Tim. 4:13)
Job Description
• Have a servant’s heart.
• Receive a “What's Needed” list from the missionary.
• Locate a courier for transportation or determine method of transportation.
• Coordinate with Refresher Coordinator and Missions Pastor on furlough arrangements, such as: accommodations, transportation, airport shuttles, first-week’s food, etc.
• May assist in paper work (taxes, school forms, ballots, etc.).
• Assist in finding transitional and/or permanent housing.
• Assist the needs of the missionary while on furlough (i.e. short-term housing, rest and/or recreation).
