We live in a culture that is powerfully impacted by entertainment media. As bearers of God’s image who are called to be His ambassadors, how are we to respond to the movies, TV, and music that surround us and permeate the culture and lives of those to whom we minister?

Are we – and our kids – to be cultural anorexics? Cultural gluttons? Or is there a better way . . . ?

Join us during the next two Family Legacy sessions as we discuss a thinking Christian response to entertainment.

How can we have the mind of Christ, and train our children to have the same? We will hear teaching from Tad, as well as hearing (by DVD) from culture experts like John Stonestreet of Summit Ministries. We will examine how to approach entertainment in a general way, as well as looking at several specific Hollywood worldview myths that can so easily slip by our defenses if we are not vigilant. Several film clips will be used as illustrations, and there will be plenty of opportunity for discussion and questions.

A special children’s program is offered. Kids learn, at their level, something important about their role in the family. In this way, parents and kids go home “on the same page” with a better understanding of how to cooperate with God in building a loving, lasting family legacy.

Legacy Family Ministries

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Legacy?

Legacy is a family gathering to strengthen marriages, equip parents, and teach children. Together, we are learning to live in a way that reflects the transforming grace and power of Jesus Christ.

When is Legacy?

We get together once per month for two hours, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Most of the time (with a few exceptions - TBA) it will be the last Monday of every month. Meeting on a regular monthly basis allows us to address many of the challenges you face in a more timely way with greater consistency and practical solutions.

Is childcare provided?

Yes -- for those who preregister! And not just babysitting. We plan to offer a wonderful children’s program, where your kids will learn many of the same principles that you do – only they will be presented at a child’s level with games, stories, crafts, and other activities. We want parents and kids to go home “on the same page” so members of each family can work together as they discuss and put into practice what they have learned.

Is there a cost to attend Legacy?

Most of the time there will be no cost to attend. However, we will often highlight a particular resource of the month (e.g. book or video) which will be made available through our bookstore, for those who want further study on a particular topic related to marriage and family life. This, of course, will be optional.
