Parents Guide for the Nursery

Dear Parents,

We welcome you and your family to Calvary Chapel.  We are here to serve you and your children while you worship and fellowship with us.

Thank you for the privilege of caring for your little ones.  We take this responsibility seriously.  The babies of Calvary Chapel are precious to Jesus and to us.  We want them to feel loved, warm and secure while in our care.  We want you to know that your child is in safe and capable hands.

Registration:

When you bring your child into the Nursery, we will ask that you register your child on the sign-in sheet.  This form asks for your name, your child’s name, age and any special instructions regarding your child for the caregivers.  If you will be anywhere other than in the main service during this time, please indicate where we may find you.

Tickets:

For reasons of safety and security, you will receive a numbered ticket upon registering your child.  Your child’s diaper bag will be placed in the corresponding numbered cubby.  There is an LED digital display at the front right of the sanctuary. Please consult this several times during the service.  If your child’s number is displayed, please report to the Nursery right away.  We ask that you, the parent -- rather than a sibling -- return your numbered ticket to the Nursery when you pick up your child at the end of service. (Please do not bring your entire family into the Nursery!)  Your promptness in picking up your child is appreciated.

Leaving Your Child:

We ask that, if possible, you leave your child with the caregiver at the counter just inside the door of the Nursery.  Generally, it helps children at this age if you leave quickly and do not return until you are ready to pick them up.  Your child may cry when left with us.  This is a normal and healthy show of preference for you!  The crying usually stops within a few minutes of your departure and becomes less common with regular attendance.  If your child is not able to be consoled within a reasonable amount of time, your number will be displayed for you to return to the Nursery.

Nursing:

Please feel free to nurse your baby in the Nursery.  We have a comfortably furnished, private nursing room available to you for this purpose that has a TV available so you can still hear/watch the sermon.  There is also a couch in the women’s restroom for your availability and speakers so you can hear the sermon.

Diaper Bags:

Please include the following in your child’s diaper bag: bottle and/or pacifier, 2 diapers and a complete change of clothes.  A routine check is made and diapers are changed, except when a baby is sleeping.

*If you would prefer to change your child’s diapers yourself, please let us know.

Illnesses/Diseases:

If your child is not feeling well, please do not expose the other children by bringing your child into the Nursery.  For the sake of others, we cannot accept a child into our care who is ill with a cold or fever.

Promotion Policy:

Promotion is essentially dependent upon each child’s individual development.  Our basic guidelines are:

Nursery: Birth to 12 months (or walking)
Toddler I: 1 year-olds
Toddler II: 2 year-olds

If you have any questions or suggestions as to how we may better serve you or your child, please do not hesitate to call

In Christ,
